Read the full analysisNo recent direct matchup is documented here; this does not establish that there has never been one. The absence of a usable history prevents drawing any specific conclusion from previous encounters between the two boxers.
Álvarez is coming off a points loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025, his first defeat since May 2022 according to The Ring, following elbow surgery. He stated that he was preparing his endurance in camp in Spain with Eddy Reynoso, without independent medical validation. Mbilli is undefeated in the reported results with 29 wins, no losses and one draw; his last mentioned fight ended in a majority draw over ten rounds against Lester Martinez. He had previously won the interim WBC title against Maciej Sulecki before being promoted to full champion. The raw records are not enough to precisely compare the level of opposition: no homogeneous analysis of punch metrics or the level of recent opponents has been verified.
Mbilli is announced as available, and his promoter indicated on October 22, 2026 that he would travel to Saudi Arabia as planned. Álvarez is returning after elbow surgery reported on October 11, 2026; his actual functional recovery and any potential impact on punch output have not been verified. No independent medical report, official weigh-in, or recent confirmation of the absence of injury has been established.
Álvarez scenario: his championship-fight experience may favor distance management, adjustments, and counters against Mbilli’s pressure. Mbilli scenario: a high pace and close exchanges may exploit Álvarez’s inactivity and test his endurance late in the fight. The shared limitation is the absence of consistent official data allowing each fighter’s ability to impose their game plan sustainably to be measured. The fight remains announced for Riyadh despite the regional security context, but the event’s actual staging and any possible venue or program changes are not guaranteed.

Professional boxing match in the super-middleweight division, for the WBC 168 lb title, announced in Riyadh on 31 October 2026. The exact number of contracted rounds, the specific venue and any potential special rules remain to be confirmed.
