Hubert Hurkacz – Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

Prediction summary

Round-of-16 duel on outdoor hard court between Hubert Hurkacz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The reported court speed and Hurkacz's serve may favor short points, while Davidovich's ability to extend rallies is the main counter. The decisive limitation remains Davidovich's lower-back condition after a 2 h 47 match, as well as uncertainty about the schedule and exact conditions.

• Lower-back discomfort observed for Davidovich Fokina on 11 October, whose actual impact remains unknown.
• Potential fatigue after 2 h 47 for Davidovich and after a busy schedule for Hurkacz.
• Unverified ability of Hurkacz to maintain his first-serve and ace output.
• Schedule, court, and weather conditions to be confirmed.

Career record

Keys to the match

• Hurkacz scenario: on a court reported to be faster, his serve can produce games that are difficult to attack; his 13 aces and 82 % of points won behind the first serve against Djokovic support this scenario.

• Davidovich Fokina scenario: his hard-fought victory against Tiafoe and his movement and variation game can lengthen rallies and push Hurkacz out of his power zone.

• However, lower-back discomfort after 2 h 47 may reduce his mobility, while the fast surface may limit the time available to defend and return.

• The effect of the two players’ recent fatigue cannot be quantified.
